Oh to be a dragon
Oh to be a dragon
Oh to be a dragon,
whether of small or greatest size.
To live in harmony with nature,
and learn to be naturally wise.
Though trapped within this human shell,
my dragon heart and soul doth swell.
I yearn to soar among lofty peaks,
to ride the wind’s back is what my heart seeks.
If only my skin were like brilliant scales,
and my fingers and toes as sharp as nails.
From my back great wings would spread,
to lift my soul to where only angles dare to tread.
From my lungs would spring searing flame,
to burn away evil and cowardly shame.
Myths and legends would enshroud my name,
were I a dragon of mythical fame.
To perch on windward crags and peaks,
and gaze down upon lands of human reeks.
All I can do is hope and pray,
that perhaps I shall be a dragon one day.
