Heroes

Heroes

across the starry sky we ride
on griffin’s backs we glide
to slay the blood red dragon
four great heroes and I

in to the wrym’s lair we skulk
and while gaping at his treasure’s bulk
the monster slayed our gallant knight
three great heroes and I

in to the woods we ran
I taunted him, „catch us if you can!“
then I found our elven archer gone
two great heroes and I

for a good nights rest our bodies yearned
so I left in search of food, and when I returned
I found both friends scorched by the dragon’s flame
no great heroes and I

I unraveled the world and searched all the land
when I found the dragon I challenged him with sword in hand
we battled ‚till, from countless wounds, we both began to fall
no……great……heroes…………………….

Guardian

Guardian

I am he who shall watch over you,
your destiny, shall I hold.
Near you I will always be,
my wings protect you from hurting.
In our minds will always be,
thoughts of us together.
As you grow, year by year,
I remain, ever watching.
If you need, I will come,
promises are mine to keep.
As years pass day by day,
the vigil I will never cease.
I will go wherever you travel,
life’s ancient mysteries to unravel.
As you sail across open ocean,
I calm the waves with soothing motion.
When you toil through dusty desert sands,
I pour down sweet rain from foreign lands.
And your soul through life continues on,
forever I remain your guardian.

Goodbye my friend

„Goodbye my friend“

Magnificent dragon flying high,
Tell me! Why is it that you cry?
For your covered in rubies, diamonds and gold,
You are the reason magical tales are told.

Graceful and dazzling you glide through the sky,
Strong and cunning you’ll never die.
So tell me now, please don’t lie,
Just let me know, why do you cry?

For why I cry is not to hear,
It tells of a story not for young ears.
But there comes a time when we all must die,
That is the reason for which I cry.

I may be covered in rubies, diamonds and gold,
But like everyone I grow old.
So you see I’m neither graceful, dazzling nor strong,
I’m simply the same as everyone.

Leave me alone up on this rock, staring out to sea,
Up in the clouds, way up high, he’s calling me.
For my time on this Earth has come to an end,
I’ll think of you always, goodbye my friend.

First day of spring

First Day of Spring

On the First Day of Spring
As the Morning Glory blooms
And the Shadow of the Dragon
Dances down the temple steps
He emerged from the budding oak
and stemming honeysuckle.
His movements were fluid,
His eyes were gentle,
His scales a liquid black,
His horns and claws a soft silver.

Slowly, He approached me
Sensing my fear and curiosity.
He explained He had chosen me
for his human counterpart.
From that moment on
His Heart and mine were one.
Through the seasons and time,
I learned His ways as He learned mine.
Always together, if not in body
by Mind, Heart and Spirit.

The last time I saw Him was
the day before the First Day of Spring.
He said our time together was done.
It was time for Him to go.
On the First Day of Spring,
As the Morning Glory recesses
And the Shadow of the Dragon
Is fading from the temple steps,
He had departed ’neath the budding oak
and stemming honeysuckle.

I know He has gone
Where I cannot follow.
But His Heart and Mind
Are still vivid within me.
And on the First Day of Spring,
When the Morning Glory smiles at the sun
And the Shadow of the Dragon
Prances about the temple steps,
I can still feel his soft scales
And hear his wise voice.

And I realize no matter where He is,
He is always right beside me.

A final farewell

„A Final Farewell“
By: Janice Subido

Standing on the cliffs and looking out at the horizon-
I see you out there:
with your wings stretched out at your sides
and finally being able to fly-
just like you always wanted.

Side by side with the love of your life,
you soar through the skies and disappear from sight.
And as I watch these things happen,
tears start flowing from my eyes.
Because I realized…
the day you fly away is the day we say good bye.
One of us stays grounded while the other takes flight.

As I hold you close for one last time,
I close my eyes and remember this moment for the rest
of my life.
Even though the thought of saying good bye hurts,
I know this is what you deserve…
Your happiness is what matters most to me-
even if it means letting you go,
enabling you to be free.
Your life awaits you out there & I can’t hold you
down;
I must let you go and try to live on my own now…

With tears still streaming down my cheeks-
I hug and kiss you for one last time.
With your gentle wings around me,
your face pressed up against mine-
I feel that safeness I once felt not so long ago;
the feeling of being loved and cared for…
And though I try to hang on, I know I must let go.

And with one final squeeze, that one last touch-
we finally say good bye.
With one swift gust, you soar through the skies
while I stand here and watch you for one last time.

And as I walk away, the last of my tears fall to the
lonely ground…

Dragon Tears

Dragon Tears;

I look at the world and see all that we have lost, and my heart cries out.
I see how shallow human beings have become, and my soul cries for
understanding.
What have we gained, what have we learned as we increase with
power? We have a scarred, polluted earth, hellholes of concrete, water not fit to drink and air not fit to breath.
Our science, our techonology has come at a horrible price.
I think of the noble dragons, those who have fled this wolrd in fear of extiction. They were right to flee from earth.
I wish I could have gone with them.
Man has forgotten a different time, a time when magic beings walked the earth, and the forests were pristine.
Then the Dragons soared in the skies, the unicorns roamed the forests and fairies played in the flowers.
But the foolish humans fear what they do not understand.
We can never understand creatures of magic.
We hunted the dragon and the unicorn, drove them into hiding.
The magical creatures left our world for the magic places made just for them. Some lucky people have found their way into these amgic worlds, and they understood the gift they were given.
I have read the old fairytales and legends, seeking to know these creatures.
When the warriors destroyed the dragon, they knew our world was not safe for them.
When we lost these magic beings we lost a part of ourselves.
The world will never be the same again.
We know only that Dragons and unicorns exist in fairytales, but we do not know they once walked among us. Tears fall from my eyes when I weep for the friends I have never met.
I weep for the lost Dragons.
I weep for all that we have lost because of our foolishness.
If only the knights understood what they really were.
Some dragons are good, not the ferocious beasts of legend.
Dragons haunt my dreams.
I know they are still out there somewhere, in a world far away.
The loss of earth’s magic will destroy us.
Now we our left with nothing but techonlogy and a wasted earth.
Soon humanities own arrogance, our own greed will destroy us.
I ponder these things with a heavy heart.
I know the briefness of my own life, it will be extinguished like a candle snuffed out.
This old world will slowly crumble to beath.
I pray for God to save us, save some remnant of the human soul.
Soon there will be a new heaven and a new earth, and the Dragons will live in peace, and this earth will not be destroyed.

Dragons of winter

Dragons of Winter

As the first fingers of frost touch the ground,
the chilled whistle of the wind is the only sound.
Snow and ice now blanket the land,
marred only by mysterious footprints like tracks in the sand.
Silent footfalls can be heard in the misty early morn,
a shadowy chamealeon ventures out from caves where it was born.
A creature of mystery with scales the color of ice and snow,
and who’s chilling breath is colder than the strongest wind may blow.
From northern lands of ancient yore,
they browse the snow drifts and ruins for books of magic and lore.
In caves of crystal and ice they rest,
like silent sentinels they guard many a crystal nest.
These mysterious dragons of ice and snow,
though rarely seen into the pages of history they flow.
And as quietly they rise from the mist and appear,
they fade from sight into the moonless night and disappear.

Dragons of the mount

Dragons of the Mount

They lair in lofty mountain peaks,
in windy tones of ancient tounges the speak.
Though on quests they travel far afield,
rarely do they exercise the power they wield.
The keepers of the windy heights,
on full moon nights they soar in flights.
To land and sup on the dew of morn,
and return to misty mountains from whence they were born.
These ancient protectors harken to the wind,
to go forth and all of nature defend.
So intimately with the strands of life they entwine,
that never from their watchpost shall they resign.
Always searching always going,
always seeking always flowing.
Never stopping save to smell a rose,
for only chance determines where the dragon goes.

Dragons of sumemr

Dragons of Summer

As summer’s heat penetrates earth and soil,
dragons awaken as their bodies uncoil.
A warmth of life causing myths to arise,
to take up on wings of fantasy mount to the skies.
Hot summer winds blow as dragons soar by,
belching out sulferous flame as over the low hills they fly.
The sky is blackened by many a horned back and leathern wing,
over the lands they soar while of nature they sing.
A melodious chant on the back of the wind,
spun on golden throat strings that echo without end.
Shining backs like gemstones and beacons of light,
to reflect upon mountains and hills as they pass over in flight.
Ancient legends now flock to fill the sky,
with great leathern winged myths grinning as they soar by.
As daylight passes into evening and then into beautious night,
they soar off into the sunset in a single glorious flight.

Dragons of autmn

Dragons of Autumn

When summer’s leaves are falling,
and dragons are old and worn.
The lulling voices of autumn are calling,
dragons from the misty early morn.
To circle over forests of red and gold,
and a sea of fallen leaves so old.
They wander ancient woods of yore,
where none but legends hath tread before.
A song they sing to morn the passing of each year,
a melancholy tune enchanting all who hear.
Slowly the hourglass doth empty,
as the ancient hands of time wind down.
Ever watchful guardians they watch the seasons change,
for the silvery frost touch where only dragons range.
As the chilling snow of winter blankets the land,
the dragons of autumn disappear and with them their song disband.

Dragon sight

„Dragon Sight“

I run through the night with dragon sight,
The darkness is as clear as light,
With the dragon I am safe from all
Things that could see me in the light.
I am running with the cloak of night.
With my dragon sight, I run through
The fields as if I had dragon flight.
The night is leaving my time is over,
The dragons must go home forever.
This is the sad time when we must part,
Because day things don’t like the dark.

A dragon’s day

"A Dragon’s Day"

Through the valley dark and cold,
over forests and castles bold,
on to mountains where dark things sleep,
to dine on a heard or flock of sheep,
then away to distant ocean shore,
past villages towns pastures and more,
to wade in crystal water of pristine ocean,
to ponder some lofty thought or peaceful notion,
and as the sun grows heavy in western sky,
a quick drink and away from the shore I fly,
away to my lair I soar through velvet skies,
as my mountain lair comes into sight,
I beat softly my wings slowing my flight,
to land gracefully on the ledge outside of my cave,
and lumber toward my hoard of which legends rave,
to sleep on a bed of jewels and riches untold,
while the light outside dies and the rock grows cold,
I lie inside on a bed of gold.

Dragon’s Call

"Dragons Call"

We sleep with the dragons,
in the hidden lair.
We sing their call,
in our every prayer.

Threw our eyes,
their world is clear.
Their forgotten song,
our heart can hear.

They guide our way,
threw the darkest night.
We use their wisdom,
to give us sight.

Threw our voice,
you hear their cries.
Their fire can be seen,
deep in our eyes.

They are alive,
deep in our minds.
In us the dragon,
you can find.

Dragon prayer

Dragon Prayer

Great Sairys, Ruler in the East
Of dragons soaring in the dawn
The golden light of faith and hope
That cheers us that the night is gone
Please see me from your gardens fair
And lend the wondrous power of Air

Great Fafnir, Ruler in the South
Of dragons of the warmth of life
The ruddy cheerful glow of strength
That bears us up in worldly strife
For Good to which I dare aspire
Please breathe on me your cleansing Fire

Great Naelyan, Ruler in the West
Of dragons of the restless sea
The blue light of the world of dreams
Of visions of the world to be
Please let the power of Water flow
To feed a blessing, make it grow

Great Grael, Ruler in the North
Of dragons of the solid earth
The white light come to shine on me
And purify my little worth
The strength of Earth beneath my feet
Please send to make the four complete

Earth and Fire, Water, Air,
Stone and light and sea and sky
I call on you to ward my friends
Because they need you more than I
But if there still is something left
When you have done these other things
Come dwell, so welcome, in my home
And shelter me beneath your wings.

Dragon night

Dragon-Night

Clear starry skies under cool moon light,
hot breathed beasts on leathern wings take flight.
Serpentine angels soar across the land,
scaled backs glistening, great wings soaring.
Band after band they flock to ocean shore,
to drink and sup and dance and sing.
As ocean waves crash upon their claws,
they dance and play upon the midnight shore.
Merrily they frolic from wave to wave,
tail in tail they went, into the sea.
And so I followed with human toes,
into the sea I strode, and soon on dragonback I rode.
We flowed into the sea on that starlit night,
when soon there came the morning light.
I awoke to gaze upon my window,
and remember my dragonnight.

Dragons in the mist

Dragons in the Mist

In the hot and misty jungles,
live the mysterious golden verungles.
They wander jungle ruins of ancient lore,
only to venture out on misty forest floor.
Though rarely seen they flourish in legend and myth,
confirmed to exist only by pigmies whom so often they are seen with.
Often found basking in the mid-day sun,
these golden frilled giants praise it’s warmth as the only one.
A feast of fruits for themselves they make,
as roasted meals with their fiery breath they bake.
Over many a cloud covered canopy they fly,
and many a blustery wind blows as they soar by.
And those lucky enough to hear their song would think themselves kissed,
by the mysterious dragons in the mist.

Dragoness

Dragoness

Dragoness soars in the sky
dragoness, I watch you fly
Through the clouds, through the rain
I claw at my heart, I claw at the pain
You are the light, you are my bain
I am the darkness, I am to blame
Your life so delicate, your grace so great
Mine full of horror, my isolation is my fate
I am so cold, my eyes like slate
I shiver occasionally, the warmth shows through
Dragoness, dragoness in the brewing clouds
you fly freely through the stormy rain
The darkness returns, I avert my eyes
I dont want you to see my pain
You are gone, I deal with the pain
It wells up inside me, a festuring wound of self blame
I wish to die, but I cannot try
would forever my tired soul burn and fry?
I continue on, my tiring course till twilight
I am tired of the worry, tired of the fight
I pray to you, my dear dragoness
I pray for the calmness, the mercy of your might
I live on to breathe your scent, see your wonderous sight
I help you in your exploits, but stay neutral with my self hatred spite
Will I ever heal my blight?
I pray to you, my dear dragoness, that you may see far ahead
and steer a steady course to the darkness of Twilight.

Dancing on air

Dancing on air

Dancing On Air
Flying, soaring
Dancing on air,
I sail the thermals
Without a care.

Climbing, diving
Spinning with flair,
Where I go
I know not where.

Oceans, lakes,
Come into view;
Their crystal clear waters
A beautiful blue.

The mountains, the plains,
Come into sight.
Explore them all,
All day and all night.

Tis good to be a dragon
With a view from here
Flying, soaring,
Dancing on air.

Crusader

Crusader

An anger boiling up deep within,
to burn away the world’s darkest sin.
I soar out with vengence over evil lands,
to slay the darkest demon clans.
I go forth to slay the darkest evil,
the veils of lies I shall reveal.
A power of virtue welling up deep within,
a cause held high by both dragons and men.
An enemy hiding in the depths of soul and mind,
to be sought out and crushed wherever good can find.
A warrior of light honorable and true,
a soldier of fortune through and through.
A dragon in the ranks of righteousness,
a scaled crusader of ancient yore.
I take an oath to honor and justice,
to uphold them now and forevermore.

Bloodlust

From gleaming scales soaked with blood,
an armoured,
clawed hand reaches up,
towards the heavens,
relishing the smell,
of victory,
which so many,
hours of battle was the product,
a dead,
lifeless carcass,
so beautiful in its,
monstrosity,
has been slain.
